Karla Bidi (Fire Trail)

Event description

Perth Festival is lighting up our skies and riverways with a Noongar-inspired fire trail!

Karla Bidi (meaning fire trail) will transform the Derbarl Yerrigan into a stunning, illuminated pathway. Large beacons of light will stretch from the hills to the sea, accompanied by soundscapes uniquely designed for each location.

Inspired by the Noongar tradition of lighting fires to greet and guide visitors, each beacon is a campfire, a glowing symbol of welcome, warmth, safety and inclusivity. See them light up the night for the duration of the Festival, welcoming you to join us and be part of something truly extraordinary.

You can catch two of the must-see installations at Kings Meadow and Lilac Hill from 7 February to 2 March, every evening after dark.
