Event description
As part of the Iron Curtain the Berlin Wall divided a city, a nation and Western Europe from the communist Eastern Bloc. Author Oliver Fritz will read from his book “The Iron Curtain Kid”, and talk about his experiences of growing up in communist East Berlin and witnessing the fall of the Wall in November 1989.
He will provide fascinating and humorous insights into everyday East German life, whether it be the shopping experience, how to successfully reject recruiting advances by the secret service or the demonstration of East German party speech etiquette.
