FOGO for businesses

Businesses that pay the City’s standard waste charge for kerbside collection will transition to the new three-bin system that includes FOGO. 

This system will include a 240L weekly FOGO collection, 140L fortnightly general waste collection and 360L fortnightly recycling collection.

What are my options?

Depending on your business, the new three-bin system may work well for you. If it doesn’t some other options are available:

Option one: Transition to the FOGO three-bin system

  • You will keep your yellow-lid recycling bin. It will be collected on your fortnightly recycling bin day
  • Your current dark green general waste lid will be replaced with a lime green FOGO lid. Your FOGO bin will be collected every week
  • You will receive a new kitchen caddy
  • You will receive a new 140L red-lid general waste bin. It will be collected every fortnight on the alternate week to your recycling bin day.

Option two: Make changes to the standard three-bin system

You may find that the standard three-bin system does not meet your needs. You can make the following changes: 

Businesses can request not to have a FOGO bin. You will need to contact the City before your business transitions and provide a suitable reason. City staff will determine its validity.  

Removing your FOGO service does not reduce the cost of your waste service, nor can this bin be swapped for another bin type. 

You may choose to upsize one (or more) of your general waste bins from 140L to 240L for an additional annual charge and an establishment fee. For costs refer to the City’s additional rate charges. If you currently have additional general waste bins, contact us to discuss your options.

You may choose to add a general waste bin to your service. Each bin will cost an additional annual fee and an establishment fee. For costs refer to the City’s additional rate charges. If you currently have additional general waste bins, contact us to discuss your options.

Option three: Engage a private commercial waste company

If you find a larger, more frequent general waste bin collection is essential for your operations, you can cancel your current bin services provided by the City. 

You can independently engage a commercial waste company to manage your waste.
