If you have been issued an Animal Registration Renewal Notice, you must pay the renewal fee within 28 days of the issue date.
In Western Australia, all dogs over three months of age must be registered with a Local Government. See below to register your dog or transfer your dog registration to the City of Swan online. You can do it in person at the City's Main Administration Centre, or any City of Swan Library.
In Western Australia, all dogs over three months of age must be registered with a Local Government. The City promotes responsible ownership of dogs in our community and our Rangers ensure dogs are registered and microchipped. All dog owners must comply with the Dog Act 1976.
Please note, dog registration period ends on October 31 of the year of expiry.

Dog registration renewals can now be paid online (Renewals Only), please follow these steps to renew your registration online.
1. Confirm Renewal period
By default, when you pay online, your registration renewal period will remain the same from one renewal to the next. For example if your dog was registered for one year, your renewal period will be for one year.
Note: the frequency for renewals can only ever be 1 year, 3 years or Lifetime as per the Dog Act 1976 and Cat Act 2011.
2. Pay online
You can pay for your dog registration renewal online using our secure payment gateway.
3. Receive your tag
Once your fee has been processed, a tag number is usually issued within 24 hours. You will then be sent the tag by post.
You can pay for your registration renewal in person in the following locations:
- the City’s Main Admin Centre,
- any City of Swan Library, and also
- by Australia Post offices within the City of Swan.
