The City of Swan (Principal) is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced artists and fabricators to deliver sculptural play art for the Bourke View Park Playspace.

The City is looking for artwork that will activate the Playspace, be unique and memorable, while contributing to providing a colourful and appealing social environment for people of all ages.

We are seeking Expressions of Interest for an experienced artist to deliver an internal mural artwork within Ellenbrook Youth Centre.

The City is looking for a unique and memorable mural, while contributing to providing a colourful and appealing social environment. The following narratives were identified during a Community Consultation with Ellenbrook Youth Centre. These narratives may be captured or displayed within the proposed artwork.
  • Colourful – a sense of vibrancy
  • Link to cultural influence – in particular Noongar/Wadjuko
  • Anime-style
  • Ellenbrook Youth Centre Mural
  • Linkage to rock climbing
  • Artwork that inspires and connects to community and community values.

Expression of Interest - Artist Brief

The City of Swan is seeking Expressions of Interest from seeking an experienced artist/fabricator to deliver an artwork/s that is a sculptural play form for the Rosher Oval Playspace.

The purpose of Public Art in the City of Swan is to “add to the visual amenity, promote cultural diversity and celebrate Place” (POL-C-142). A vision of the City’s Strategic Community Plan is to create unique and attractive places, recognizing that public art can strengthen local identity and enrich the visual environment.

The City of Swan is seeking Expressions of Interest from a professional Noongar / Whadjuk artist, preferably with local Swan connections to deliver an artwork/s that is a sculptural to contribute to the public amenity of Ballajura Intergenerational Playspace. The content of the artwork should be reflective of the living Noongar culture, particularly as it is embodied within the region encompassing the City of Swan.

The purpose of Public Art in the City of Swan is to “add to the visual amenity, promote cultural diversity and celebrate Place” (POL-C-142). A vision of the City’s Strategic Community Plan is to create unique and attractive places, recognizing that public art can strengthen local identity and enrich the visual environment.

Ballajura Intergenerational Playspace is currently under construction and is expected to be completed early 2025. As such, the Principal wishes to engage a suitably qualified artist to design, fabricate and install sculptural artwork that enhances the play space as well as the overall park atmosphere.
