Competition name: 123 Years of New Junction Giveaway

Eligibility: Any person can enter the competition except City of Swan employees, Councillors and immediate family members of an employee or Councillor of the City of Swan. 

Competition: There are five basketballs and five footballs to be won at each of the City of Swan’s libraries. The competition will start 12noon, Monday, November 4, 2024 and end when all footballs and basketballs have been given away. The City will publish on its website when the competition has closed.

Total number of winners: 60 

Method of entry: To enter, the entrant must go to one of the following libraries in the City of Swan and inform a City staff member that they are there to collect a basketball or football to celebrate 123 years of New Junction:
  • Ballajura Library – Corner Kingfisher Avenue and Illawarra Crescent South, Ballajura
  • Beechboro Library – 332 Benara Road, Beechboro
  • Bullsbrook Library – 3 Maroubra Avenue, Bullsbrook
  • Ellenbrook Library – 90 Main Street, Ellenbrook
  • Guildford Library – 97 James Street, Guildford
  • Midland Library – 45 Helena Street, Midland. 
Maximum number of entries: An entrant is only allowed to claim one basketball or one football. 

Notification of winners: Competition winners will be notified in person.

Terms and Conditions of entry

  1. Information on how to enter and winner details form part of these terms and conditions (Terms). The Terms must be read in conjunction with the Schedule. The Schedule defines the terminology used in these Terms. Where there is any inconsistency between these Terms and the Schedule, the Schedule prevails. Participation in this Competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms.
  2. Entry is open to anyone who satisfies the Method of entry.
  3. The Competition will be conducted during the Competition period.
  4. Competition winners are specified in the Details of prize section of the Schedule.
  5. The entrants must follow the Method of entry during the Competition period to enter the Competition. Failure to do so will result in an invalid entry. The Promoter will not advise an Entrant if their entry is deemed invalid.
  6. The time of entry will be deemed to be the time the entry is received by the Promoter.
  7. Entrants may submit up to the Maximum number of entries (if applicable).
  8. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, delayed, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, corrupted, illegible or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence whether due to omission, error, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction, disruption to any communication network or medium, or otherwise including those entries not received by the Promoter for any reason. The Promoter is not liable for any consequences of user error including (without limitation) costs incurred. No correspondence will be entered into.
  9. The Competition winner(s) will be notified in accordance with the Notification of Winners section of the Schedule.
  10. It is a condition of accepting any prize that the Prize Winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the Prize and the Prize supplier’s requirements. Each Prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a Prize Winner is unable to use the Prize as stated.
  11. To the greatest extent permitted by law, the Promoter excludes all warranties, representations or guarantees (Warranties) regarding the Competition and any prizes, including any Warranties which may have been made in the course of advertising or promoting the Competition. The conduct of the Competition or the supply of prizes may involve third parties, and the Promoter makes no Warranties and disclaims all liability in connection with any such third parties, their acts or omissions. By entering the Competition, an entrant releases and indemnifies the Promoter and its councillors, officers and employees) from and against all actions, penalties, liabilities, claims or demands the entrant may have against the Promoter or that the Promoter may incur for any loss or damage which is or may be suffered or sustained as a direct or indirect result of an entrant entering or participating in the Competition or winning or failing to win a prize, or using or permitting any other person to use the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law or which would cause any part of this clause to be void or unenforceable. 
  12. If despite the foregoing clause, the Promoter incurs a liability to an entrant under any law which implies a Warranty into these Terms of entry which cannot legally be excluded, the Promoter’s liability in respect of the Competition is limited, in the Promoter’s discretion, to either resupplying such goods or services as form part of the Competition, or paying the cost of resupplying those goods or services.
  13. Without limiting any of the foregoing, in no circumstances will an entrant or the Promoter have any liability to the other for any loss or damage suffered which is indirect or consequential in nature, including without limitation any loss of profit, loss of reputation, loss of goodwill, or loss of business opportunity. 
  14. The Promoter may in its absolute discretion not accept a particular entry, may disqualify an entry, or cancel the entire Competition at any time without giving reasons and without liability to any entrants, subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority. Without limiting this the Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries, prize claims and entrants and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry or prize claim that is misleading or not in accordance with these Terms of entry or who manipulates or tampers with the entry process. In the event that a winner breaches these Terms of entry, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered. Verification is at the discretion of the Promoter, whose decision is final. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  15. Prizes, or any unused portion of a prize, are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. Where a prize is unavailable for any reason, the Promoter may substitute the prize for another item of equal or higher value. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize (including between advertising of the Competition and receipt of the prize).
  16. In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability (or that of a third party involved with the Competition) to proceed with the Competition on the dates and in the manner described in these Terms of entry, including but not limited to vandalism, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter’s obligations in respect of the Competition will be suspended for the duration of the event and, in addition, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the promotion and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to approval of the relevant authorities.
  17. Use of an entrants’ personal information is governed by the City of Swan’s Privacy statement available at www.swan.wa.gov.au.
  18. These Terms of entry will be governed by the laws of the State of Western Australia. Entrants accept the non-exclusive jurisdiction of courts and tribunals of the State of Western Australia in connection with disputes concerning the Competition.
  19. Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat may be used to advertise or promote the Competition. By entering the Competition, entrants agree that the Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat; and to release Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat from all liability in relation to this Competition. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the Competition should be directed to the Promoter and not Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat.
  20. Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat may be used to advertise or promote the Competition. By entering the Competition, entrants agree that the Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat; and to release Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, or Snapchat from all liability in relation to this Competition. Schedule to Terms and Conditions of entry

Competition name: 2025 Community Calendar ‘Get Amongst It’ photography competition

Eligibility: Anyone can enter the 2025 Community Calendar ‘Get Amongst It’ photography competition.

Competition: 5pm AWST June 24, 2024 to 5pm AWST September 29, 2024

Details of win: Feature in the City of Swan 2025 Community Calendar. Each winner will also receive a $400 gift card.

Total number of winners:  The 12 best entries will feature in the City of Swan’s 2025 Community Calendar.

Method of entry: To enter, the entrant must take a photo within the City of Swan, then complete and submit the entry form listed on the City of Swan website, along with the photo, during the 2025 Community Calendar photo competition, running from 5pm AWST June 24, 2024 to 5pm AWST September 29, 2024

Maximum number of entries: There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted.

Selecting the winners: A panel from City of Swan will shortlist 36 entries and then the 36 entries will go out to a community vote to select the 12 best entries that will feature in the City of Swan's 2025 Community Calendar.

Notification of winners: Competition winners will be notified via email, no later than December 1, 2024, with confirmation that the photo will feature in the City of Swan’s 2025 Community Calendar.

Terms and Conditions of entry

  1. Information on how to enter and winner details form part of these terms and conditions (Terms). The Terms must be read in conjunction with the Schedule.   5. Competition winners are specified in the Details of Win section of the Schedule.
  6. The entrants must follow the Method of entry during the Competition period to enter the Competition. Failure to do so will result in an invalid entry. The Promoter will not advise an Entrant if their entry is deemed invalid.
  7. The time of entry will be deemed to be the time the entry is received by the Promoter.
  8. Entrants may submit up to the Maximum number of entries (if applicable).
  9. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, delayed, incomplete, incorrectly submitted, corrupted, illegible or misdirected entries, claims or correspondence whether due to omission, error, alteration, tampering, deletion, theft, destruction, disruption to any communication network or medium, or otherwise including those entries not received by the Promoter for any reason.   10. The Winner(s) will be awarded to the valid entrant(s) selected in accordance with the Selecting the Winners details.
  11. The Competition Winner(s) will be notified in accordance with the Notification of Winners section of the Schedule.
  12. The Promoter takes no responsibility where it is unable to contact Competition Winners who have not provided correct or complete contact details. If an entrant’s contact details change during the Competition Period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to modify any entry information should be directed to Promoter.
  13. Without limiting any of the foregoing, in no circumstances will an entrant or the Promoter have any liability to the other for any loss or damage suffered which is indirect or consequential in nature, including without limitation any loss of profit, loss of reputation, loss of goodwill, or loss of business opportunity.

  19. If for any reason any aspect of this Competition is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of computer virus, communications network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failure or any cause beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Competition and invalidate any affected entries, or suspend or modify the competition.

Terms and conditions of entry

The Gidgegannup Agricultural Society, in partnership with the City of Swan, is proud to present the Australian Rustic Farm Art Awards™ (ARFAA), an outdoor exhibition of sculptures on display at the 2024 Gidgegannup Agricultural Show. 

Entry requirements

  1. Artists must be Australian residents aged seven or older.
  2. To be considered for exhibition, artists must complete and submit an entry form with details of their sculpture by 11.59 pm AWST, Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Entry considerations

  1. Sculptures must fit within the genre of “farm art", “junk art” or assemblage. This genre describes artworks made from scrap metal, broken-up machinery, timber and other farm-related materials. Please avoid rubber and plastics. 
  2. Artworks must address the 2024 ARFAA theme “Trip to the tip”. Shortlisted artworks will reflect the uniqueness of life in rural Australia in a creative, imaginative way.
  3. The size of your sculpture should not exceed 3m (h) x 2m (w) x 2m (d) and a weight of 500kg. Larger sculptures may be considered at the discretion of the Gidgegannup Agricultural Society ARFAA subcommittee. 
  4. As this is an outdoor exhibition, sculptures must be able to withstand weather elements.
  5. Sculptures will be exhibited on level gravel. The artist must ensure their sculpture is stable.
  6. Sculptures should not be hazardous and must not endanger viewers. 
  7. Artists must be able to deliver and pick up sculptures from the Gidgegannup Showgrounds, 2171 Toodyay Rd WA 6083. Enter via Gate 3 off of Old Coach Road. 
  8. Electricity is not available.
  9. Site visits and installation times will be determined with finalists closer to the exhibition date. 

Entry fee

  1. Artists aged 16 and above must pay an entry fee of $30+GST per sculpture submitted for the exhibition. This fee will be refunded if the artwork is not selected for the exhibition.   

Selection process

  1. Eligible artworks entered will be reviewed by a selection panel with approximately 60 finalists shortlisted for the ARFAA exhibition.
  2. Finalists will be notified by email on Friday, October 4, 2024.
  3. Entrants will retain the intellectual property of the entry, however, the City will have the right to reproduce the entry in all City of Swan Community Calendar related promotions and publications. Entrants will be credited where reasonably possible. All Entrants warrant that their entry content is original, lawful and not misleading and that the Promoter’s use of such content will not infringe the rights (including moral rights) of any third parties.
  4. Finalist and winning entrants will retain the intellectual property of the entry, however, the City will have the right to reproduce the entry in all City of Swan promotions and publications in perpetuity. e.g. Website, reports, advertisements, social media, street banners. Entrants will be credited where reasonably possible.

Awards

  1. Judging will be held during the exhibition from which a minimum of four prizes will be awarded with categories for adults, youth and children, and a local artist award.
  2. Prizes and prize money for each award will be announced in August 2024.

Exhibition sales

  1. Artwork may be for sale and the sale price must be provided by finalists before the exhibition.
  2. A 25%+GST commission will apply to any sculptures that are sold during the exhibition. This commission will support the Gidgegannup Agricultural Society AFRAA subcommittee to deliver future AFRAA exhibitions. 
  3. To receive payment for sold works, artists must invoice the Gidgegannup Agricultural Society for the price of the artwork less the 25% commission.
  4. Artists who do not have an ABN must provide a completed statement by supplier form with their invoice.  
  5. Artists will be responsible for delivering their artwork to its purchaser.

Exhibition details, insurance and security

  1. The ARFAA will be on display 9am-5pm, Saturday, October 26, 2024.
  2. Install will be 9am-6pm, Friday, October 25, 2024.
  3. Deinstall will be 5-7pm, Saturday, October 26, 2024 OR 8am-12noon, Sunday, October 27, 2024.
  4. Sculptures will be handled with utmost care however no liability is accepted by Gidgegannup Agricultural Society for the loss or damage during the install, display and deinstall of the exhibition. The artist may decide to conduct the install/deinstall process independently.
  5. Sculptures will be under 24/7 surveillance from drop-off to pick-up. 
  6. Images of shortlisted artworks will be reproduced for non-commercial purposes of the ARFAA exhibition (including social media and catalogue).

Terms and Conditions

  • When you submit your entry, please include the following information:
  • Your name, age, and address
  • Telephone number and/or email address (this is how the City will notify the winners)
  • Parent/guardian signature as consent for entry into the competition

Submitting your entry

  • You must hand in your entry to a City staff on the day.
  • Entries are limited to one (1) entry per person.

Conditions of entry

  • Entrants must colour in the Community Safety Colouring Sheet and hand in their entry on the day.
  • Entrants must be under the age of 10.
  • Children of City staff & extended family cannot enter competition.
 

Judging and criteria

  • Entries will be judged by the City.
  • The City’s decision is final.
  • Judging will be on the merit of the entry, taking into consideration all eligible ages and creative skill. 
  • Please note, this is a children's colouring competition, and entrants must be under the age of 10
  • 2 winners in total.
  • Winners will be notified by the City.

Prize

  • 2 winners prizes of a $50 movie voucher.
  • Prize is not redeemable for cash or transferable.

  1. To go into the draw, entrants must: 
    • Follow the Swan Volunteer Resource Centre on Instagram, 
    • Like a competition post, 
    • Tag a friend under a competition post, and 
    • Complete all the fields in the entry form.
  2. The giveaway is open to City of Swan residents over the age of 18 except for City employees and volunteers or their close relatives.
  3. The closing date to participate in the giveaway is 11.59pm, October 31, 2024 AWST. After this date, no further entries will be accepted.
  4. One winner will be chosen randomly from the list of entrants.
  5. The winner will be notified by email within seven business days of the closing date.
  6. We will notify the winner when and where their prize can be collected. Valid photo ID with a City of Swan address is required to collect the prize. 
  7. If the winner does not claim the prize within 21 days, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize and pick another winner using the method outlined above. 
  8. The winner agrees that the Swan Volunteer Resource Centre can use their name and image in any publicity materials related to the giveaway.
  9. All entries remain the property of the Swan Volunteer Resource Centre and may be entered into a database for future marketing or promotional activities, such as the newsletter or events.
  10. With the Competition being conducted on Instagram and/or Facebook, the Swan Volunteer Resource Centre and entrants must:
    • Fully release Instagram and Facebook from all liability arising out of the Competition; 
    • Acknowledge that the Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Instagram and Facebook; and 
    • Understand and accept that information disclosed in connection with the Competition is disclosed to the Swan Volunteer Resource Centre and not Instagram and Facebook. 
  11. Entry into the giveaway will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
