New Junction is an exciting project that embraces the future of Midland while paying homage to its past.
New Junction connects the original Midland Junction with the Midland Gate Shopping Centre precinct, complementing Midland’s thriving commercial and residential centre and nearby regional centres.
It will feature a series of high-quality parks, open spaces, community facilities, and new living and business opportunities. New road connections will also offer improved accessibility into and around the new town centre.
Stage 1 is now complete. This stage included:
- Construction of Junction Parade to link Keane and Sayer Streets
- Development of Weeip Park with:
- Youth play area
- Children's playground
- Shadow arbour.
A local developer, Steve DeMol, has completed stage 1 of the residential apartment building Catalyst.
Council is working with Swan Valley Fresh Markets to provide land to significantly expand their site. The expanded site will include a larger fresh food market, a medical centre, and apartments.
Council is also working with Providence Lifestyle who are considering the development of a vertical lifestyle village. This project will include the construction of a Residential Park.
Upcoming construction works in 2025 include:
- Construction of a section of road to Trackside Entrance*
- Installation of a sewer to Grandstand Way and Hill View Vista
- Installation of a water main to Grandstand Way and Hill View Vista
- Installation of a water main to Trackside Entrance
- Lowering of ATCO gas main service location on Morrison Road.
* Please note that upon completion of these works, the new roads such as Trackside Entrance and Grandstand Way will not yet be connected to Morrison Road. The connection to Morrison Road is expected to be completed in 2025/26, as utility service relocations need to be carried out first to accommodate the works. The future stage of the project will also include streetscape and landscaping along the road verges of Trackside Entrance and Grandstand Way.
Additionally, access and parking at Parking Station #1 beside Morrison Road will be disrupted during the works. Motorists are advised to find alternative parking during this period.
