The City of Swan has delivered a new youth centre in Ellenbrook.
Opened on May 4, 2023 the Ellenbrook Youth Centre will provide our young residents between the ages of 12-25 with a safe place to socialise, connect, engage and participate in a meaningful manner.
The centre is a modern and multi-functional space where young people can access a range of activities, services and supports, including counselling, financial advice, employment and training.
This exciting project is an investment into the future of Ellenbrook, and will open up a range of opportunities and make a major difference for young people.
This project is jointly funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, Lotterywest and the City of Swan, with a co-contribution from Ellenbrook Management Pty Ltd.
Signalling the start of construction, the City of Swan hosted an official turning of the sod on Friday, February 28, 2022.
The milestone was celebrated with a smoking ceremony, welcome to country and sod turning.
The City has advocated for a purpose-built youth facility for many years, and young people have been actively engaged in this process since the feasibility study was undertaken in 2017.
During the initial planning stages, architects Hodge Collard Preston held focus group sessions with the young people to understand their collective needs and gain feedback to help inform the planning and design.
