It’s official – the Swan Valley Visitor Centre is not only the best visitor centre in Western Australia – it’s also the best in the whole of Australia.
Fresh from securing gold at the WA Tourism Awards held in November 2024, the Visitor Centre again struck gold in the Visitor Information Services category at the prestigious 2024 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, held in Adelaide on March 21 and attended by nearly 1,000 tourism industry leaders from across the nation.
The accolade confirms the Visitor Centre as the best of Australia’s 500 visitor centres, adding to its growing list of State and national honours and reinforcing its position as Australia’s most-awarded visitor centre.
It’s the fifth win for the Visitor Centre over the last several years, demonstrating a consistent dedication to delivering top-notch visitor information services.
Tanya Richardson, City of Swan Mayor, said the award was a tremendous win, not only for the Visitor Centre but for the Swan Valley itself.
“It’s an accolade shared by the wonderful professionalism of our Visitor Centre’s staff, who work incredibly hard to ensure that every visitor to the Swan Valley enjoys a truly memorable experience,” she said.
“The Swan Valley is the jewel in the City of Swan’s crown, and having an award-winning Visitor Centre sitting at the gateway to this stunning region only strengthens the visitor experience we can offer.
“The award win comes at a time when the Valley is truly alive with our Harvest in the Valley event about to kick off, welcoming visitors to pick, taste and shop our beautiful local produce.”
The Australian Tourism Awards, which in 1984 celebrated its 40th year, were established to showcase and celebrate outstanding contributions to the national tourism industry.
Three WA tourism businesses were also awarded gold in their respective categories: Harvest Tours for Excellence in Food Tourism; HeliSpirit for Major Tour and Transport Operatives and Spinifex Brewery Cable Beach in the New Tourism Business category.
