It was the party everyone had been waiting for.

Swan Active Midland reopened this month in spectacular fashion with about 5,000 Swan residents joining the celebrations.

Families flocked to the event on Saturday, May 11 for the big reveal after its $30 million upgrade.

When the doors opened to public for the first time since 2021, thousands flooded into the building to be among the first to see the changes, try out the new gym equipment, run around on the upgraded sports courts and swim in the upgraded indoor pools.

Hundreds dined in the new café, played in the new creche or enjoyed the upgraded indoor aquatic area which features better access and new water play equipment.

The occasion was marked by a ribbon cutting, daylight fireworks, AC/DC and INXS tribute bands, Aboriginal cultural dancing, stilt performers, sports courts activations, a scavenger hunt, free gelato, face painting and guided tours.
