Dayton District Open Space has received high praise after being named 2024 West Australian Football Facility of the Year at the West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) community awards.
As one of the City of Swan’s biggest projects, the $30 million sport and recreation hub represents our commitment to effectively plan and deliver infrastructure to meet the needs of our residents.
The top-class facility features competition-grade provisions like football ovals, hockey fields, cricket wickets and nets, netball and tennis courts, pavilions and more.
It’s already become the home of many sporting clubs, like Caversham Suns Football Club – who attended WAFC awards alongside the City – Caversham Dayton Cricket Club and the Eastern Blades and Ellenbrook Falcon hockey clubs.
Tanya Richardson, City of Swan Mayor, proudly accepted the award and thanked the WAFC for the recognition.
“It’s an honour for the City of Swan to accept the 2024 Football Facility of the Year Award for Dayton District Open Space, signifying the start of a thriving future for sports clubs at this facility,” she said.
“Dayton is one of many areas in Swan experiencing rapid growth in recent years and the Open Space will support our expanding community into the future, providing plenty of leisure and sporting opportunities.”
