The City of Swan is taking a proactive approach to tackling the increasing demand for parking in Ellenbrook Town Centre.

Ellenbrook is home to the City’s fastest-growing population and is the subject of many social and infrastructure projects to support the thriving community.

In particular, the opening of the Ellenbrook train line has increased the requirement for commuters to access parking, causing parking challenges for people visiting the bustling town centre for work or leisure.

To ensure fairness, equity and accessibility, a parking plan has been endorsed by Council to introduce time-limited and paid parking options.

Parts of the town centre will fall under the all-day paid parking (first two hours free) restriction from Monday to Friday between 8am-5pm.

Other parts will fall under a three-hour maximum paid parking (first hour free) restriction from Monday to Friday between 8am-5pm.

Tanya Richardson, City of Swan Mayor, said introducing increased parking management ensures the people who need parking the most will have access to it.

“Ellenbrook is thriving and new developments, like Swan Active Ellenbrook and the Ellenbrook train line, are creating more demand for parking,” she said.

“This approach puts us ahead of the spike in demand so we can provide fair access so everyone can access the services they need in the town centre.

“It also supports our local businesses by ensuring their customers have ample parking during the week, that’s not taken up by commuters using the train line.”

The City has installed signage clearly identifying the restricted areas and parking stations, as well as introducing EasyPark to make paying for parking as simple as possible.
