The City of Swan’s Community Care Services recently completed a comprehensive brand refresh, proudly featuring artwork by Kaedisha Westberg, a local Whadjuk Ballardong Noongar artist.

Her artwork tells a powerful story of togetherness, cultural heritage and journey.

Kaedisha said the vibrant piece represents the core values of the City’s Community Care Services; Community Connection, Integrity, Independence and Wellbeing.

"I wanted to have these four pillars represented individually and stand out. It tells a story of the community coming together. When I created the artwork, I was thinking about the community, the service and the journey,” she said.

In the centre of her artwork is a large yarning circle, symbolising everyone coming together, with four distinct meeting circles surrounding it, each representing one of the pillars.

Footprints and lines flow from these circles, symbolising the community members and staff travelling and connecting on Whadjuk country.

Kaedisha, whose artistic journey began as a personal interest in 2015, said her favourite elements in the piece are these unique yarning circles, each telling its own story.

Creativity is a deeply personal journey for her, motivated by her family and the connection she feels to her heritage.

“I have three younger siblings who love it when I create new art.”

Kaedisha's creative process involves close collaboration with clients to ensure that her art resonates with their goals.

“My creative process starts with meeting the clients to discuss what they want to achieve, what they want represented in the artwork and what it will be used for”.

Kaedisha's aspirations reflect her commitment to community and artistic growth.

She aims to expand her network and seek collaborative projects that bring her closer to the community she loves.

“My aspirations for the future would be to expand my networks, seek collaborative opportunities, build relationships with other artists and do more in my community”.

The City of Swan is honoured to showcase Kaedisha's work, which not only embodies the mission of its Community Care Services but also celebrates the strength and unity of the community.

Her piece is on display in the Community Care Services Western Swan Home Support Centre.
