FAQ's
The project’s cost will be determined after detailed design and cost estimating. The City has established a reserve fund for the project, which along with $42m in grant funding, will be the primary funding source for the project.
The City has received commitments for the following:
Funding body | Funding amount |
---|---|
Department of Health and Aged Care | $25 million |
Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries | $7 million |
Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts | $5 million |
WA Government | $5 million (TBC) |
The City will be working with a consultant to advise of potential sustainable initiatives for the project. This will include areas such as solar panels, geothermal technology, natural lighting, grey water recycling etc.
This is a significant project for the community. Once designs reach an appropriate stage, they will be shared with the community, who will have an opportunity to comment on them. While the exact details of engagement are yet to be decided, information will be released as soon as it is available.
The City is in discussions with the State Government and it's likely that a portion of the site (2ha on Cashman Avenue) will be used to facilitate the construction of a community hub in Ellenbrook.
